One of our friends at Prison Fellowship here in the Portland, OR area sent us this poem written by a current inmate in the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility (She will be released on September 17th, 2012). We thought it was a wonderful and moving expression of hope and purpose for a new life and wanted to share it with all of you. So, with Lola’s permission, please enjoy her poem “The Time Has Come”.
Message from the author: “This poem came from me. But it came neither from my head nor my heart-but from somewhere within my spirit, or more accurately from the spirit that is within me. There will be some who read this and understand what it means and yet others will read this and identify with what I am saying. Whatever the case, I pray we all are blessed with the moments in which to realize and fulfill our life’s purpose…”
THE TIME HAS COME
The time has come to start out fresh
With a change of heart and a change of mind
A change that has come with time
Time that has been wasted and time that has been used
Learning just what and just what not to do
Time to realize that in time
There comes but precious few moments
In which are ours to fulfill our purpose
Why we are really here

Ephesians 2:10 For it is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Jesus Christ: and long ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.
Ephesians 1:11 It is in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.
